If we haven’t tracked skills before, can we still use hidn?
Absolutely. We start with the data you already have: job descriptions, résumés, social media profiles, and other records to generate initial skill profiles. From there, employees can review, refine, and update their profiles directly.
As people work on real projects and give feedback, you build a living, evolving view of your workforce’s capabilities.
Where is AI used?
AI plays a supporting role in hidn. We use it thoughtfully to help surface relevant skills from sources like résumés and job descriptions.
Skill data stays grounded in the real experiences of your people; and they remain in control of what becomes part of their profile and what’s shared.
Our focus is on accuracy, transparency, and trust. It’s about helping you make smarter decisions, not automating people.
What skills taxonomy does hidn use?
hidn doesn’t lock you into a single predefined skills list. We start with a broad, research-backed set of skills from publicly available taxonomies and job data, but adapt it to your team’s actual language, roles, and needs. Your people know their skills best, we make sure the system reflects that.
You can continue to customize the taxonomy over time, adding new skills, removing ones that aren’t relevant, and ensuring it evolves with your organization.
How is this different from a talent marketplace or HRIS?
HRIS platforms are essential for managing things like employee records, payroll, and compliance, but they're not all designed to give you a clear view of skills and your teams a place to connect.
hidn doesn’t replace your HRIS. It adds a layer of skills visibility that helps you see what capabilities exist today, where the gaps are, and how to align the right people to the right projects.
It also helps employees understand how their skills connect to real opportunities, whether that’s projects, mentorship, or internal mobility.

How secure is our data?
We take security and privacy seriously. Our founding engineer has a cybersecurity background and brings the good kind of paranoia.
All data is encrypted in external transit and at rest. Backups follow the same protections. Access to production is limited and controlled.
This isn’t our first startup. We are preparing for third‑party security audits and compliance certifications. Protecting your data is part of our foundation.
